Ulthera - Answers to the Most Frequently Asked Questions

Hello.
I am Dr. Lee Hanbaro, Director of Baro Clinic Pyeongtaek Branch, near Pyeongtaek Station Dermatology.
After forgetting about it through the winter, many people look in the mirror and come in saying,
“Huh? Why has my jawline become so blurred?”
and we have seen a noticeable increase in these visits.
Today, I’d like to talk about the treatment name that comes up most often in these consultations:
Ulthera.
What is Ulthera?
Ulthera is a lifting device that uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to deliver energy to the deeper layers of the skin,
specifically down to the SMAS layer.
It may sound a bit complicated. Let me explain it simply.
If you think of your skin as a “blanket,”
loss of elasticity means that the blanket has sagged downward.
Ulthera does not pull on the outer blanket itself;
rather, it is a procedure that tightens the “fixing pins” underneath the blanket again.
In other words, instead of pulling the surface, it works by contracting the internal support structure.
Why is Ulthera said to be painful?
Ulthera precisely stimulates deeper layers.
Because of this, you may feel brief, heavy discomfort as the energy is delivered.
However, pain is not a matter of “intensity” alone,
but a matter of using settings that are appropriate for your skin.
I do not prefer a one-size-fits-all approach that applies strong energy uniformly.
I adjust treatment based on facial area thickness, fat volume, and pain sensitivity.
I believe lifting is not a treatment to endure, but one to be carefully tailored.
How long do the results last after one treatment?
In most cases, firmness gradually improves over 3 to 6 months,
and results are often maintained for around 1 year.
However, the most important point is this:
Ultherapy is not only a treatment that refines facial contours,
but also a treatment that helps slow the rate of sagging.
You may want to consider this treatment if
You feel your jawline has become less defined
You find surgery burdensome but still need lifting
You are concerned about deep cheek fat or nasolabial folds
You want natural-looking changes
I have experienced a wide range of lifting cases in Gangnam,
but here in Pyeongtaek, I take a deeper approach.
Rather than performing many procedures quickly,
I carefully assess each individual’s facial structure
before proceeding.
Which areas should be lifted for natural-looking results,
and which areas do not necessarily need to be touched.
I believe lifting is not about “more,”
but about “more precision.”
If you are considering Ulthera in Pyeongtaek,
a good first step is to accurately evaluate your current facial condition.
A procedure may be the right answer, or it may not be.
I believe the first priority is taking time to decide the best direction together.
